Finally a new dress!
On May 3rd I was showing you this sundress and writing:
Seems like yesterday:)) But it's been half a year - I said I want to shirr for the rest of my life, I just didn't say that it's also going to be on one dress only!:)) I thought I'd finish a new shirred design really soon but got sidetracked by my new love ... for fabric accessories! Oh that pretty pink rose up there gave birth to so many babies- 5 different styles of roses using the same basic method! Little did I know when I made that tiny embellishment that I'm going to enjoy working with it for so many other projects!
So the last pic takes us back to our dress- till I decided what the final touches would be it made a nice prop for my roses:D I am happy with the "final touches" and I know better than to ask for them to come to me earlier- the muse wouldn't like that! (pssst! reminding you who the muse is---> Muse)
You might ask me ok, which type of rose I used for the dress? 1,2,3,4,5? None! Another hybrid!:))
You might say you've seen this print before and I won't argue with you, I'll even give you this link.
Ok, and the fake maternity picture which I used then to show it's a design with many hats;)
The beauty of transforming a saree is that you have 6 meters to work with and different prints in one! I even used the same dark blue as the neckline above in this design below... feels like a century ago!
Who would have thought then this dress would be born... some day:)) *sigh* Sorry for the long post that's more like an entire blog but long time no blogged so ... that must be why:)
Another look at some dress details... my feeling is it was worth the wait! Happy to be done with!:)
And Clothing- I've missed You! ⎝⏠⏝⏠⎠

So that's my first shirred dress! A technique that gives a perfect fit without any tailoring, what a relief:)) Well, that's what I'm going to do for the rest of my life!:)) Kidding, but...I am definitely going to shirr some more!

I love your dress! Especially the ruffles at the back! I think that is a fabulous detail! And the rose too, mustn't forget the rose :L
ReplyDeleteDefinitely worth the wait! It's a great piece!
ReplyDeleteThe pink one shouldered dress is breathtaking! Do you design these yourself? Beautiful!
ReplyDelete@Brooke- yes they are my designs! Glad you like them, welcome to my blog and I hope to see you around!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful designs....I was quite surprised to see a maternity picture-and then read it was fake...good job though!
ReplyDeleteWow. The dress is beautiful! I love the shirring, but I really love the front of the skirt with the different layers. I'm sure there's a fancy name for it that I don't know.
ReplyDeleteMelissa thanks- I'm sure there must be something but I don't know it either!:))
ReplyDeleteSo the ruffles at the back are from the shirring, right? Such a brilliant idea. Your dresses are always a work of art!
ReplyDeleteThese dresses are knock-outs. Love them. Love the shirring, too.
ReplyDelete@liza jane- the back is shirring as well- vertical elastic and enough space between lines
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for stopping by:)
i love it! good to see an outfit post on yours after quite sometime. eager to meet you in person when i visit your place this month 29-30th Nov, for a relative's wedding!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait Lakshmi! Me and Simona are both looking forward to meeting you!;)
ReplyDeleteOh, how very, very beautiful and fine! I am a fan! You should continue "shirring" for the rest of your life indeed! Hopefully not as in the past half a year :))
ReplyDeleteHehe Thanks Sonya, I hope so too;)
ReplyDeleteHey! What a joy that you came back with clothes, your roses are beautiful, but I missed your spectacular designs in dresses. You have a wonderful talent!
