Mr. Snaxo

        Mr. Snaxo has been requesting a blog post for quite some time now. Our friendship has just moved a step forward so it's time for that post!

        First let me introduce him - hopefully you'll be as charmed as I am! And what's not to like about him? He's made of robust metal, stands on his own table, has a motor but works as a treadle machine as well, so when there's no power - and that kinda happens here- I still can't find fault with him! I brought him home while waiting for a Singer serger. Although shy at first, he did his job quite well... given the given and as the waiting turned longer than expected- we kinda grew fond of each other and I didn't have the heart to send him back. It's true, I would have liked him to come with some instructions but what can you say when a nice salesman says he will send someone if I need to rethread it! I did get a manual a little later and I am glad I did - it already proved to be helpful! I was so pleased to see a well balanced stitch that I jumped to making some dust covers that were on my must-do list! Now if Mr. Snaxo keeps being good I'll help him make a dust cover for himself too!

    Hahah! We DO get attached to our tools and equipment, don't we? Sewing has always been difficult for me, I admire anyone who can master it.

    Hang on to Mr. Snaxo. He sounds like a keeper. You never know when the treadle may be the only way to get something done. At some point he may be an Antique.

    Directions? What directions?

    calliope - yep, powercuts are a daily issue :| I only wish I had a treadle sewing machine too! Mr. Snaxo looks like what I thought would be an antique already nowadays - I guess it's just one of his covers!

    mr snaxo-- AND that peek at that gorgeous dress-- are both making me jealous! i love vintage machines, they're so beautiful to look at, you don't have to hide them. i on the other hand have a "vintage" elna overlock, but really it looks like it's from 1987. not something you want to give a pet name to.

    @oona - uuuh making you jealous is such an honour! Mr. Snaxo must have thousands and thousands of vintage-looking-yet-our-contemporaries brothers in India! Here he's the norm:) ah did I mention the table has wheels?:D

    Wow what an amazing little machine! :) I know one day when I have a house of my own I want to collect a few beauties like this one. Oh and I am looking forward to seeing more of that dress, very intriguing.

After coming back from my vacation I felt that my every day wardrobe needs refreshing. But from thinking to doing something about it - there's a long way! I had the floral fabric for a while now. Deciding about the design is always the hardest part. The Story Of The Exuberance Necklace

  Once upon a time... after the big bang anyways... there was a sketch of a top for which I wanted to use  contrasting colors. Or maybe I bought the fabrics and then made this sketch... in any case, mesmerized by these iridescent shades of purple and green I took 2 m of each - let's call them gred and purpink. But the flow of this silk cotton and the idea of my top didn't really get along or I lost enthusiasm somewhere along the way, anyways after some time I was left with 2 m in bits and pieces of purpink and of course gred. The contrast inspired me however to try something twisted both literally and figuratively- and it implied thick cotton fusible canvas and machine embroidery on the edge- which seemed like a tough task for my sewing machine from the very beginning but it wasn't enough for me to give up:D.
