        This shirt started with a sketch I made when my sewing machine was broken, one month ago... I decided then that it’s going to be one of the lucky sketches that actually becomes reality!          To make the peacock feather trails quite literal I transformed a feather snap, editing it into the desired shape and chose 6 shades of acrylic fabric colours. I have been planning for some time to try fabric painting and now I’m eager to try some more! The artificial silk is recycled from a saree and it matched my project perfectly!      Here's a  shawl I made last year, one for me this time! Lacy, soft and very comfy, suitable for occasions and not only! Rectangular shape, knitted on oversized needles. Another reversible super-easy pattern, I quickly saw it growing before my eyes! I will not fold it in three, make it into a hat and then a take a rabbit out of it! Not this time…:)) Just this: Depending on what yarn-needles combo you find, try this pattern  *(YO, K2tog, K2)* or *(YO, K2tog)* – see which one suits you best! Happy knitting!...             The New Year’s party is close and if your dress is made but you can’t find suitable buttons,  here’s something that might help. It surely helped me when making My Secret Garden , so it’s time for this secret to be revealed! I had been using sequins for the front part so why not use them to make buttons too! Therefore I used transparent 4 hole buttons with green sequins on top!    This is a shot I took while My Secret Garden was in progress (left).. My critical half commented on the "side by side" back opening needing improvement… I didn’t know what to expect while trying it on, so I was like arrrrgh so now what?! The energy wasted on admitting something’s not right is just so overwhelming sometimes!:)) It makes the actual “correction” business seem like a trifle!         This started as a "gift order". I've heard voices doubting that knitted gifts are still appreciated, but if you're willing to make a little compromise regarding the surprise element, it becomes just a matter of finding out what piece of knit that someone you are ready to knit for desires! Thank you Jamie and Joyce from Burdastyle.com for recalling the Bernina Party Through the Decades submissions in this wonderful article with a generous overview of designs and their inspiration sources! These designs didn't fail to impress and I'm glad to be among them with The Black Mambo Mamba ! Speaking of which, what better time to get back to it and complete the possibilities to wear it?  The raindrops have been painted in metallic colours and have button holes for an ingenious make-over towards a more playful cheerful side! What do you think? Another thing I like about this dress is that the neckline can be lowered or raised, front or back - in the pictures front is pinned with a brooch and back is lowered by unfastening the first pair of buttons!  Conclusions: buttons open marvellous possibilities;)

Have you ever made a bag ? If so, could you stop after one bag?  I couldn’t, I think once you cross the line there’s no going bag... err, sorry, back… A bag making experience feels different than other stitching projects…  A bag is not something you wear like clothing, but rather someone you take by hand and introduce to everyone you meet and it does the same with you, at the same time… 

Before taking these pics I didn’t realize how amazing this almost classical shawl is! If I were in some chilly climate I would enjoy wearing something like this, wrapping it in different ways and feeling cozy, inventive and warm;)  I grew up among amazing triangular white shawls knitted by my grandmother – her fingers would breed, in the middle of winter an entire icy botanical garden – delicate flowers and leaves in  neat rows as if they were there since the beginning of time – such real fine pieces of jewelry!  This shawl I started back in Romania and it was supposed to get back to Romania last Christmas:D hopefully it will get there before This Christmas:D With friends like me, who needs... hmmh… other friends?!         Yep, Christmas is close and that changes everything! Even the theme of my posts- today we get our knitting needles moving !         The advantage of making your own shoulder pads is that you can have them in any fantasy size/shape that agrees with your design – so: more freedom! – plus just like me you can put to good use the small fabric scraps that remain after you cut and fit a garment – I gathered a bag lately hoping to use them as filling for something et voila ! The sandwich shoulder pads! Draw your pattern after measuring the shoulder on your garment, put it on a piece of fabric that's folded in two and cut  Put some scraps on one half Add more scraps, a thicker layer towards the fold line   Fold and pin; the layer pressed between two fingers should be 2-3 mms thick Hand bast along the round edge Overlock the round edge  Fix the scrap layer by straight stitching a few lines,  parallel to the edges.
