Yes, this is what Mr. Snaxo was trying to show you! It's a dress that took me lots of time to start, then some time to make, then lots of time passed till I took pictures! All abt Time Time Time! What's a dress for? To go here and there, therefore travel ... (But I'm pretty sure I didn't think this much when I just named it Time Travel Dress ... ) Other arguments I bring in favour of the name (these also just popped out): the print takes you back to childhood - it's full of of cute scribbles, all on a dotty background like in vintage comic strips! it's tight around the neck so that no matter how you land on the other side of the time portal you won't spill out of your dress!  It's also elegant because it seems to agree with this one of a kind definition I read here : True elegance almost always has a waist and is ladylike, i.e. it’s feminine and you can get our of a car without blushing. : ) Also out of a time machine , I would add......

Thank you Jamie and Joyce from Burdastyle.com for recalling the Bernina Party Through the Decades submissions in this wonderful article with a generous overview of designs and their inspiration sources! These designs didn't fail to impress and I'm glad to be among them with The Black Mambo Mamba ! Speaking of which, what better time to get back to it and complete the possibilities to wear it?  The raindrops have been painted in metallic colours and have button holes for an ingenious make-over towards a more playful cheerful side! What do you think? Another thing I like about this dress is that the neckline can be lowered or raised, front or back - in the pictures front is pinned with a brooch and back is lowered by unfastening the first pair of buttons!  Conclusions: buttons open marvellous possibilities;)

        The advantage of making your own shoulder pads is that you can have them in any fantasy size/shape that agrees with your design – so: more freedom! – plus just like me you can put to good use the small fabric scraps that remain after you cut and fit a garment – I gathered a bag lately hoping to use them as filling for something et voila ! The sandwich shoulder pads! Draw your pattern after measuring the shoulder on your garment, put it on a piece of fabric that's folded in two and cut  Put some scraps on one half Add more scraps, a thicker layer towards the fold line   Fold and pin; the layer pressed between two fingers should be 2-3 mms thick Hand bast along the round edge Overlock the round edge  Fix the scrap layer by straight stitching a few lines,  parallel to the edges. Use the largest machine step. They should be pretty stiff. ...

  ❥ LBD? Yes, but I’m in ❤ with the rest of it, it’s definitely LBD ✚ something…  A few things worth mentioning: The discreetly shiny floral pattern that comes to life in both artificial and natural light The bodice looks the same front and back, 2 rows of buttons placed on one side The skirt is a wrap-bubble-tulip skirt with 3 pleats on each front piece The sleeves complete the design  with 4 pleats that puff up (lining was cut shorter for this effect) Of course, shoulder pads, so eighties – freshly homemade – I will tell you all about it soon! Well, I’m convinced – a comfortable dress imbued with pride of the past and the present that I will enjoy wearing in the future;) Both serious and playful, a smart way to dress for a party or formal events. What’s next? I will spice it up and show you some alternatives which make it even more interesting to wear… will be continued ;)...

               Cherry Wine Top was posted on the first page of Burdastyle.com yesterday and it's a premiere  - I got lots of wonderful comments, it really made my day! I love the site and I love the feedback! More surprises to come :) ...

          I thought this will make a short tutorial: if you want your pleats to last, zig zag them along the fold line! and one picture, and that's it... Instead, I got all this, so here we go:           When you consider using pleats for an outfit there's always the question: what happens after washing? Will they look just as good? They will unfold a bit and the cloth may wrinkle a little also, so you will need to spend some considerable time ironing after every wash...What can you do to skip the ironing after, or at least make it a lot easier? There are some spray solutions for making pleats last or some recommend the use of vinegar. I will present an alternative that seems friendly to me (also let me know how all alternatives work for you). The best combination for a perfect equation is a fabric that doesn't wrinkle and pleats that keep their shape.  For fabri...

        A turquoise top I made last summer!         Burda Easy Fashion free pattern for tunic inspired the decorative trim, if anyone else wants to try that in lycra, a friendly piece of advice - don't!:D         If you're still tempted to try, have patience and ignore all the possible headaches - and hopefully it will be worth it:)         The pattern I made has a front and a back piece with gatherings on the shoulders and hips, they are loose in the upper part. I love everything about it - the simplicity and yet distinction of the pattern, the colour... Also lycra has been one of my favourite materials to work with for so many years! And it's so fun to wear!
