Swatches Tute

My Fabric Swatches Collection is so useful when I have to look for the same color of fabric, matching trims or matching threads! Here's how you can make one too! How to make this rose? Click HERE (stitch the hook on the back of the rose and at the other end make a thread loop like shown HERE ) (the sliding wooden/plastic bead makes it possible to put different swatches next to one another) Alright, any questions?? Here are a few shades I work with:

Tutorial Featured On Dawanda.com!

My "Wrinkled Rose Tutorial" is featured on Dawanda's blog!  That's great, this is one of my favorite places on the net! For those of you who don't know Dawanda yet- check it out- it's a popular European site for handmade products and has a English, German and French platform. You can list your products on all platforms... if you speak the languages!:) For now I listed on the English site, check out my shop here! Wondering about site fees? Free to list, 5% if sold. Check out the site, enjoy! There's only one question left:

DIY- The 4th Type of Rose

... and if I may say so, my favorite so far... I love them all, but this one is the fluffiest and most exuberant! I cut a strip of chiffon  full width (110cm) and 20 cms in length. Then on bias I made these curly ribs using invisible (nylon) thread and a tight zig-zag, all on the same side of the fabric. You can also use normal thread and, why not, contrasting colors! I folded the strip in 2 lengthwise, the ribs being inside,  and stitched the edge. Turned inside out this long cylinder - the ribs are now on the inside, the assembling stitch on the inside. Then I followed the steps mentioned in my first rose tutorial without pressing it first. For other version of roses of roses I made check out this link (the wrinkled rose) and this one (the other 3 in a funny scheme). For a "green" version of ties using selvedge see this tutorial:) I can't promise this is the last type of rose - but I can promise to blog about other things too:)) For sure you...

Round Twisted Cowl Scarf Tutorial

With such a long descriptive title I'm sure you can already guess the steps! When I introduced the awesome cowl pants I promised a tute for the scarf... See this post for the blanket stitch tute ( Simona the dummy posing in front of the shelves to show you I've cleaned them:D Isn't she such a doll?!) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So I made a pair of pants and a scarf out of 3 m of this fabric and these were the only pieces left. I love it when patterns are economical  and respect the fabric! I wish it was possible for more patterns, coz how many times do you really get to use the fabric scraps unless you've turned that into a science?:)) Anyways, even with so little amount left I thought of making a scrunchie! I know ఠ_ఠ... you'll say... ◔_◔ scrunchie...  In my defense, I didn't make scrunchies when it was "their time". So now I was feeling an ...

Scarves and Roses. Embraced.

Me and Simona the dummy, we had some fun... Not a pajama party, but a scarf party (pajama parties lead to pillow fights and I wouldn't want her to notice she can't... throw a pillow!) The pink rose is "Wrinked", see here how it's done This beige rose is the first one I tried out of Chiffon and it's different from the others not only in size but also regarding ... something else... tutorial next week Pink rose tied in the middle of the scarf, the scarf tied at Simona's back I love this picture... a bit of vintage with a bit of "je ne sais quoi":P These sets are both gifts I made for friends... Making gifts is so inspiring! I added them them to my shop as custom order as well, in more colors that you could wear in a week;)  Hope you're having a great weekend!

Selvedge Ties For Your Roses!

Why selvedge? because it's quick- one edge doesn't frail so less stitching = less time consumed easy to match - for a rose made out of the same fabric or same color to put to good use these durable strips that otherwise are likely to be thrown away Why a tute? the selvedge is narrow - that's about how to make the most of it in an easy way! ... so that I know what I did next time I need something similar:) How much do you need?   The total length of the ties will be half, so if you take 1m selvedge you get 0.5 m strip How? Fold the selvedge strip in 2 lengthwise, straight stitch along the frailing  edge, as close as possible to the edge. I move the needle in its left position for this. Reached the other end? Turn 90 degrees and stitch.  Turn the strip inside out lengthwise - the frailing edge is now inside The unfrailing  edges are now on the same line . The center of the universal foot is on that line, zig -...
